What You'll Experience

Forget the highway - this short break takes you off the fast road and into the stories between Jaipur and Pushkar.

It starts with a fortress no one visits, ends with a lake that looks like a white desert, and in the middle gives you Pushkar at its most atmospheric - bells, chants, and lakeside aarti.

Built in 1648 by Maharaja Roop Singh of Kishangarh, Roopangarh Fort was strategically built to control the important trade route to Sambhar Salt Lake. Today its turrets, courtyards and miniature paintings are perfectly preserved as a heritage hotel - a perfect stop for history and photos without the crowds.

Then Pushkar - part hippie, part holy. One of the few places in the world with a Brahma Temple, 52 ghats, and a bazaar that sells everything from silver to rose attar. We time it for you to be there for the evening.

On the way back, we take you to Sambhar - 24,000 hectares of shimmering white salt flats. It's India's biggest salt producer and a Ramsar Wetland. In winter, it turns pink with 70,000+ flamingos and migratory birds. Even in summer, the vastness, salt train, and Shakambhari Devi Temple make it surreal.
