Welcome to the world of Jaipur Blue Pottery – a 400-year-old craft that holds a GI tag and has no clay in it. Unlike any other pottery in India, Jaipur blue pottery is made from quartz stone powder, powdered glass, Multani mitti, gum and water. Its story travels from Persia and Mongolia via Kashmir to Jaipur, where Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II revived it in the 19th century.
Your experience begins at an authentic, family-run artisan studio – not a tourist shop – near Amer Road, where the air smells of earth and cobalt. Meet your master artisan, a third-generation blue pottery craftsman who has been awarded by the state for his contribution to preserving this dying art.
