What You'll Experience

While everyone rushes to Amer Fort, we take you down into the historic town of Amer — the original capital of Jaipur, founded in 967 AD.

We start at Panna Meena ka Kund, the breathtaking symmetrical stepwell from the 16th century. From there, wander through narrow lanes to the magnificent Jagat Shiromani Temple (1599 AD), Sitaram Temple, and ancient havelis.

Next, step into the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing — a beautifully restored mansion dedicated to the art of hand block-printing. Watch artisans demonstrate the 500-year-old craft, see natural dyes, hand-carved teak blocks, and textiles that made Jaipur famous worldwide. It's a must for design and textile lovers.

We finish not at a shop, but at a local family's home where you will be welcomed with freshly brewed masala chai and homemade pakoras. Hear stories of living in Amer for generations.

Good to know before you go

• Walking: Good amount of walking is involved — around 3-4 km on uneven lanes, steps and inclines. You can decide to walk less or more as per comfort; our guide will customize the route accordingly.
• Anokhi Museum: Museum is closed on Mondays and on some local holidays. Photography inside museum is restricted in some sections. The museum shop accepts cards.
• Dress code: Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees for temples and family home. Remove shoes before entering temples and homes.
• Toilet facility: No toilets on the walk route. Toilet is available near Panna Meena ka Kund parking, inside Anokhi Museum, and at the local family home.
• Bring your camera, sunglasses, hat, comfortable walking shoes and water bottle.
• Not suitable for wheelchair users due to steps at stepwell and museum.
• Please inform us about food allergies for chai/snacks.
